Patricia Simonet is a research scientist in the field of applied animal behavior and cognitive ethology. Ms. Simonet became nationally known when she headed a ground breaking study on dog laughter at Sierra Nevada College. She has appeared on Good Morning America, National Public Radio and the BBC. She has trained wild animals with the Zoological Society of San Diego. She currently works as an animal behaviorist for the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Services and does private animal counseling for pet owners. She has written, presented and published numerous research papers on animal behavior and her article “Animal Laughter” is included in the Encyclopedia of Animal Behavior, published by Greenwood Press. Ms. Simonet earned a B.S. in Behavior Science from Sierra Nevada College, Lake Tahoe and is a PhD. candidate in the Animal Behavior Group, Department of Psychology, University of Nevada, Reno, Nevada.
