Does Your Pet Need to Join a Gym?

Well, I’m not actually suggesting that, although I’m not discouraging it either.  What I’m really asking is, are you one of many pet owners with an obese pet? If you’re looking for suggestions to trim your pet’s waistline, check out our article, Obese and Overweight Pets.

The Catorialist

On the Street... Nearly Spring, Los Angeles

If you’ve ever read the The Sartorialist, you’ll know exactly why I got a laugh after stumbling across this blog.  The Catorialist parodies that designer-inspired model, utilizing some great feline photos, paired with a snappy title (and some clever comments) for each post.  http://thecatorialist.blogspot.com

27 Ways to Snack Smarter

Do you remember Norman, the English bulldog? He was one half of the tired duo who won our October Photo Contest!  Just like all the rest of us, he is looking to keep it simple and eat healthier in the new year!

Check out this funny post on his magazine reading habits from owners, Eunice and Dave.

Giselle, the Philanthropic Cat

Congratulations to Giselle and her owner, Bruce Couch, who are the winners of the December PetStress.com Picture Perfect Pet Photo Contest. Bruce sent us some additional pictures which are really quite beautiful, featured above and below.

We asked Bruce to tell us a little more about Giselle.
“Giselle (it’s her nickname cause she’s always modeling) is 4 years old. She selected us when she was a kitten at the Oregon Humane Society. Her favorite thing to do is fall asleep on us while we’re working (we work at home) and drool, she can be very persistent. During the winter the sun (which can be rare in the Oregon) streams into our hallway and our 2 cats compete for the best and warmest spot, on the day the photo was shot, Giselle won the best spot. The photo seemed to express what sunshine feels like.”

The winning picture

How is Giselle philanthropic? Although four year old Giselle is shown here in a relaxed pose, she and Bruce have been actively helping the Paws shelter in West Lin Oregon.  Bruce told us that:
“While she was competing we built a Giselle army through Facebook and Twitter that voted regularly by bribing them with donations to one of our favorite shelters that adopts out some very deserving cats. We donated food, cleaning supplies, a nice stereo for the shelter (so the cats had music) and $200. The winnings from this contest will go to the shelter as well. When we went in a dropped off donations we took a few photos .” (I checked out these photos and certainly wish that I could adopt one of these cats!)

As may be obvious… Giselle is very loved and isn’t really needing much except maybe a sunny spot on the floor, or some warm computer gear to sleep on.

Do you have a photogenic pet like Giselle?  We love seeing your pet photos, so don’t forget to enter your dog, cat or bird in this month’s contest!”
